This report has been prepared in accordance to the request of Dal Property Development (DPD) on the 4th April, 2022, to study and diagnose the problem of the erosion on the left bank of the Blue Nile River at Soba area – Khartoum. The specific site location is about 10.00 km upstream Al-Manshya gauging station (E 455862.00 m, N 1724632.00 m) and 90.00 km downstream El-Kamleen gauging station (E 520459.00 m, N 1666764.00 m).

This report provides the technical findings of five components of the study namely:

1) The hydrological study.

2) The hydrodynamic modelling.

3) The morphological change analysis.

4) The bathymetric survey of the river reach and the collection and analysis of soil samples of the river banks, and

5) Design works.

Based on the outputs of the carried out analysis, it was recommended that the most appropriate solution to the erosion problem at the affected study sites is wet pitching type of protection works, and it can be said that this proposed solution is in line with the adopted type of river banks protection works used to reduce the erosion problems on the banks of the Blue Nile.
